Everything I wish I knew about scooters

My first scooter was the ninebot Segway... I soon wanted more. So, I purchased a 2019 Widewheel new off Ebay for $1,200. At the time this was the same price as Fluidfreeride. I purchased thru Ebay because I would receive it faster. It is a nice scooter, much faster then the Ninebot. The problem is the one rear break is not enough to stop abruptly. I found myself under a car that made a sudden stop. The folding mechanism made a clean snap and my cellphone cracked thru the case but i was fine... just sad I just ruined my kinda new scooter. Fluidfreeride would not help me fix it because it was not purchased thru them. I did find the part but after a month waiting, I got an email to refund my money. I then decided to buy the Mantis from Fluidfreeride. I wanted this scooter anyway so I pre ordered Aug 12th and got my scooter a few weeks later. It is awesome, I love it... I got the Pro model.
I had it for 4-5 days and the weekend came, I was psyched to take it on some trails. It was a lot of fun and it got kinda dirty going thru some shallow mud puddles on the trails but exceeded expectations! When I got home I got a bucket of warm soapy water and some rags to wipe it down. My roommate told me- It's water-resistant and can be rinsed off with a hose! So I first read the manual again and it mentioned do not get water in the port and don't use high pressure soap... I thought a 20 second rinse would be ok so I did... I found out that under the mat on the deck is some duct tape only covering about 75% of the seam of the battery compartment. I found out that a few drips can easily get into this compartment and travel down a wire to the port and other connections. The wires are not in any water resistant box. Trust me. The scooter would not power on and the wheels were not turning easily. I immediately disconnected the battery and put a fan on the wires for a few hours. Everything seemed dry as a bone so I went to plug in the battery and it fried a connector. I learned a lesson, when I get it back I'm going to water proof it myself. I had to ship the scooter back to fluidfreeride in Miami... Cost is $125 each way plus parts. I would love to say this has a happy ending... I get my scooter back soon and it is as good as new. I can only hope... I still have a Widewheel broke in two, maybe fluidfreeride can sell me that part now??! Please. The company is great they respond to all my grumpy emails but they never answer a phone or return a call, so don't bother.
I like this scooter so much that if I could buy another and have it shipped immediately, Id buy another just to have two. That's how bad I want mine back and don't want to wait. Not to mention, scooters are more fun when you can ride with someone. My roommate has my ninebot but the battery runs out too fast. So yeah, don't get them wet, take the time to do some waterproofing on your own and buy directly from fluidfreeride.
